About Me

My photo
Mildura, Victoria, Australia
In my 15 years of teaching I have been employed at Nichols Point Primary School in Mildura for 3 years. One of my various roles was Visual Art Specialist for grades 3-6. In 2010 I moved to Clifton Springs (Geelong) and I was employed by Newtown and Whittington Primary Schools as their Visual and Performing Arts specialist. Prior to working at Nichols Point I was employed at Ranfurly Primary School where I taught Visual Arts P-6 for 5 years as well as classroom teaching in Prep, grade 1 and 3. I am a qualified BLI (Buzan Licensed Instructor) and have been using this knowledge in P-6 classrooms as well as running PD sessions for staff about Mind Mapping. During 2009 I began sessional lecturing with La Trobe University (Mildura Campus) in Visual Art Education for second year teaching students. 2011 has seen me move back to Mildura and since Term 2 I have been employed as Arts Specialist at Irymple Primary School.

Mind Mapping

Mind Mapping
This Mind Map is about the laws of Mind Mapping. To learn more about the radiant nature of Mind Maps and their applications go to www.fuzz2buzz.com MIND MAPPING ''The Swiss Army Knife Of The Brain'' I have worked with Jennifer Goddard (Master Trainer for Australian Buzan Centres) to participate in a 5 day Brain Camp Workshop in 2005. This has enabled me to become a BLI (Buzan Licensed Instructor.) Developed by Tony Buzan - Mind Maps® are one of the most powerful and useful tools in the Deliberate Cre8ive Thinking™ arsenal, and one of the most under-used. Tapping into the way brain actually works, Mind Mapping allows ideas to radiate from a central focus while providing a holistic picture of the situation. I am committed to increasing the world's Global Mental Literacy. To do this I work in Schools to teach creative thinking and Mind Mapping to both students and teachers. The link below ,http://fuzz2buzz.com will give you more information about Mind Mapping and its potential to create life long learners out of your students.

"The Wizard the ugly and the book of shame"
Grade 3/4 pencil and paper collage "The Wizard, the Ugly and the Book of Shame", Pablo Bernasconi uses a traditional fairytale structure to tell a witty and poignant story about perceptions of beauty, the importance of self-esteem, and the power of forgiveness. In the author's own words, "I think all my stories show the value of believing in yourself, the courage of finding a way to be comfortable with us, and the idea that difference can be good and should be good."
